Day 03 - Monday, 11/11/24 - Day 2 At Sea

Well, today didn't go as planned.  After the 9am coffee with Nick featuring the entertainment director, Samantha, Angela fell backward on to the stage when the ship moved, straining a muscle in her upper left leg.  She's still mobile but moving slowly with help of walking sticks.

I've been request to post a picture of our itinerary.

The ship celebrated Remembrance Day with a somber celebration in the World Stage.

After lunch, Brian Beck presented on the pirates of the Spanish Main.  Michael Sullivan then gave a fantastic presentation on understanding Shape, Light, and Color in paintings.  I'm not particularly an art aficionado, but even I got excited about visiting a gallery! He's by far the best presenter so far. Kate Ross finished up the afternoon with her excellent presentation about NATO.

Prior to the evening show, Captain Eric van der Wal introduced the Senior officers and then led the attendees in a toast to a good voyage.

Our evening entertainment was the first presentation by the Singers and Dancers (World Stage Repertory Company) with a 60's tribute in a program called 'Feeling Groovy' which was very good.  There are 4 singers and 4 dancers.  All of their shows are specifically created for this voyage, and for this traveler are a welcome change from the Step One Dance Company which has been the primary entertainment on all of HAL's ships for a number of years.

Afterwords in the Wajang Theatre we watched the movie, Angels and Demons, starring Tom Hanks which we first saw many years ago when it was released.

Finally, because it was gala night, we had chocolate and a towel animal to greet us when we returned to the stateroom.
